About us

The Financial Study association Amsterdam (FSA) is the study association for financial oriented students. The FSA is linked with the economical faculties of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam (VU).

The FSA functions as a medium between the students and the business. As a consequence, the FSA organizes several national and international projects during the college year within one of our five pillars:

• Accountancy
• Banking & Finance
• Controlling
• Consultancy
• Investments

The FSA also organizes other general projects which do not concern a specific pillar. Our project portfolio consists of 14 projects and every project will be executed by a committee.

Besides that, the FSA releases four times a year the semi-scientific magazine Fiducie and the association magazine FSA & Beyond. The Fiducie consists of articles about actual topics on a financial-economical domain, written by business professionals and scientists. The FSA & Beyond contains a lot information about FSA activities, experiences of alumni and business courses offerings. You can download both magazines by clicking on the menu  ‘Media’.

The membership of the FSA, the study association for financial oriented students, means becoming a member of an association with distinctive projects whereby you can develop yourself fully.

As a passive member you will have the enjoyment of the following elements:

• Participate in FSA projects during the college year
• Receive the magazines Fiducie and the FSA & Beyond for free at home
• Receive mailings about the latest business courses, job offers and internships
• A FSA membership card with 15% discount on foreign books, ramsj, calendars, agendas and games at the selexyz scheltema stores in the Roetersstraat and Koningsplein.

It’s also possible to become an active member of the FSA. You will develop organizational skills in one of our committees. If you are interested in expanding your horizon, don’t hesitate and visit us at our room at the UvA (C6.07) or send an email to bestuur@fsa.nl. Each year, six students will fulfill a fulltime function in the board of directors . If you would like to receive more information about the possibilities for a function in the board, just have a look at the menu A boardyear.

General Meeting of Members
The highest organ of de FSA is the General Meeting of Members. During this meeting the FSA members do have the final vote about the proposed plans.

Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board of the FSA is very important. She functions as soundboard for the board of directors and covers an advisory and controlling role.  The Supervisory Board is essential for the strategy and the continuity of the association. Furthermore, she is responsible for the installation of the board of directors. The Supervisory Board consists of former board of directors and former active members of the FSA. The current composition is as follows: Michiel Beudeker, Michiel de Jonge, Wouter Timmer, Pieter van Diepen, Arjan de Boer and Mark Schreuder.

Audit Committee
The audit committee critizes the treasurer by accomplishing his tasks. Furthermore, the committee possess an advisory role, since many audit committee members are former FSA board treasurers.

Board of Directors
The board of directors is the executive organ of the association. Every board member has his own tasks, but together they will take care for the execution of the strategy. Every board member is a coordinator of several FSA projects.

Committees
Within the FSA, every project is organized by a different committee. This committee consists of several active members and a board member. Every board member coordinates the progress of a project and keeps an eye on the schedule of the project.

FAN
On national level, the FSA functions as the chairman of the Financial Association of the Netherlands (FAN) , a collaboration of the study associations from Groningen (Risk), Rotterdam (FSR), Tilburg (Asset | Accounting & Finance) and Maastricht (FSFocus). The FAN thinks that the collaboration on a national scale will provide excellent information to the student, but will create business opportunities as well.

The Chairmen of the study associations of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) will held several conferences to discuss future plans.
